Lyme Disease in Dogs

Dogs are great animals.  They provide a lot of joy in a person’s life, and that’s why it is important to look after them.  Dogs are adventurous creatures.  They will run all over the place, and it’s hard to really tell what kinds of things they get into every day.  That’s why it’s important to check them over frequently for things such as ticks.  Ticks are very dangerous, because they can be the reason for Lyme Disease in Dogs.  This disease can be very dangerous, and this article will focus on this particular disease, and what to do if one thinks their dog may have it.

The main cause for Lyme Disease in Dogs is because of ticks.  Most often a deer tick is the main culprit.  These ticks can be just about anywhere, but they are most frequently found in tall grass or in the woods.  So, if a dog goes running into the woods or in tall grass, ticks may attach to them.  Then, the ticks may infect the dog with Lyme Disease.  This can be very dangerous, so it’s good to check a dog for ticks or at least know the symptoms of Lyme Disease.

It’s hard to tell whether or not a dog has Lyme Disease.  Usually the symptoms are very mild.  That’s why it’s important to actually look over a dog to check the dog for ticks.  If a tick is found, it may have not even done anything to the dog, but it also could have.  That’s why it’s important, as a safety precaution, to take the dog into the veterinarian just in case.  The vet should be very aware of the symptoms of Lyme Disease in Dogs.  Then, the vet will surely be able to take the right steps to help the dog.
